These are just some of the towns from which we received entries in this year’s photo contest. It was another success as we received 85 photos from young men and women throughout Oregon.
Our panel of judges—which consisted of students, educators, artists, a public health lawyer, and health professionals—were impressed and inspired by the photos and their captions. Despite the nearly impossible task of eliminating most of these wonderful works of art, we have identified a list of the “top 20” photos.
Click on the flickr link below to read the titles and captions that reveal just how these young men and women view public health in their community.

Thanks to all of everyone who submitted your photos. You are all to be congratulated for your insightful and artistic view of public health!
The top three winners will be announced during a special awards ceremony at the Hollywood Theater on April 6, 2010 at 6pm in Portland, OR, as part of National Public Health Week.
The event take place before a free movie screening of Straightlaced: How Gender’s Got Us All Tied Up. It is a free event and open to contestants, students, and their family and friends. It is so cool to see the creative ideas that the kids are coming up with. When the traditional definition is this: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_does_health_mean/alert 1 we must remember that there are so many dimensions to health and fitness that we must piece together our own ideals. This is a great contest and I look forward to seeing the 2011 entries.
